Rental Application

Yale University rents apartments exclusively for educational purposes. New rentals are available to faculty, students, and staff of Yale University only, with preference given to students. Only individuals who have a full-time affiliation with Yale University are eligible to sign new leases for University Properties’ units. All apartments lease for 12 month periods and are unfurnished. No pets are allowed.

Notice and Verification

NOTE: This form is the first step in renting an apartment and is not a lease or an offer to lease. By submitting the information on this form, you are reserving a place in the rental queue. All units rent on a first-come, first-served basis, and apartments will be offered to applicants whose desired move-in dates, building and unit size preferences, and position in rental queue most closely match apartment availability criteria.

Additional information may be requested, and a credit check may be conducted as part of your application.

All apartments rent for 12 month periods, and most apartment leases run in line with the student academic calendar. In February tenants will begin informing us of their renewal intentions, and the leasing of apartments for 2009/2010 starts in earnest in March. We will have a wide variety of apartments available to rent around the Yale campus with leases commencing in May, June, July, and August.

If we learn of a potential rental match, we will contact you via e-mail with information on the unit, apartment showing dates and times, and additional instructions on how to complete the leasing process. A $50 lease processing fee will be charged if we offer you a rental and you accept. Apartments are held only with security deposits and signed leases. All applications are subject to Landlord’s approval, and only a lease signed by both the tenant and the landlord will be considered legally binding.
